About Halbrook

A small independent educational publisher, founded in 1994 by two serving teachers who could not find a workbook they were willing to put in front of a class.

  • 1999
READING follows. The Problem of the Month begins in the newsletter.
  • 2000–2001
GEOGRAPHY and HISTORY. The company moves to Mereway Road and takes on staff.
  • 2002

  • 2003
MATH: Learn and Explore. Twelve thousand copies, and the only volume still reprinted.
  • 2006
ART & DESIGN, the eighth and last commissioned title. Six thousand copies.

Our records

Company papers covering 2004 and 2005 are incomplete. Part of the ledger was lost when the ground floor at Mereway Road flooded in the winter of 2005, and part was removed before that. What survives is held in the office and is not available to the public.

We are asked, from time to time, why the series jumps from Volume 6 to Volume 8. The answer is that it does not.
